Job summary

WSU Extension is seeking a Noxious Weed Control Field Inspector to identify noxious weeds, collect data, and communicate with landowners. The role involves prescribing control methods, documenting treatments, and ensuring compliance with local board rules.

The position is part-time and seasonal for 5 months, with up to 3 days per week (96 hours/month). Applicants will participate in trainings and educational events, with pay ranging $26.00–$28.00 per hour and one hour of paid sick leave per 40

Qualifications

• Associates degree preferred; one year of related work experience can substitute for a degree.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in environmental studies/science or natural resources; substitution allowed with experience.

Responsibilities

Job description

WSU Extension is seeking a Noxious Weed Control Field Inspector. The Field Inspector is responsible for identifying noxious weeds, collecting data, communicating with landowners, prescribing control methods, handling and applying herbicides, documenting treatments, attending educational events, participating in workshops and training courses, following the rules and regulations set by the Jefferson County Noxious Weed Control Board and the Jefferson County Policy, working with partner organizations and organizing educational and volunteer events. Education and/or experience: Associates degree in environmental science, environmental studies, natural resource management or related field is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, environmental science, natural resource management or related field preferred. One year of related work experience can substitute for a degree.

Compensation: Part-Time, Seasonal for 5 months. Work up to 3 days a week/96 hours per month. Hourly range: $26.00-$28.00 per hour. DOE. No benefits. One hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked.
