Job summary

Vision Life is hiring a dependable Direct Support Professional to provide in-home support in Monrovia, CA. This part-time role covers 16 hours weekly with 8-hour shifts on Wednesday and Thursday, in-person work, and a focus on compassionate, structured care.

You will work with an adult with disabilities, following structured plans, maintaining boundaries, and supporting daily living and community participation. CPR/First Aid, background check, and training are required or in progress.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and meet minimum education requirements.
• Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass DOJ/FBI background check through Live Scan.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification and TB health screening, or willingness to obtain.
• Willingness to complete required trainings and onboarding.
• Ability to assist with transfers and stay on feet for extended periods.
• Comfort providing personal care and supporting daily living activities.
• DSP or caregiving experience preferred but not required.
• Knowledge or experience with Prader-Willi syndrome preferred.
• Flexibility to provide backup or additional coverage when needed.

Job Description

Vision Life is hiring a dependable and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide in-home support to an adult with physical and developmental disabilities who may also experience behavioral challenges.

This is a part-time position offering 16 hours per week—eight-hour shifts on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Schedule flexibility and willingness to provide occasional backup or additional coverage are preferred.

Knowledge or experience supporting individuals with Prader-Willi syndrome is preferred. Prader-Willi syndrome is a developmental condition that may involve challenges with appetite management, routines, emotional regulation, and behavior. Staff must be comfortable following structured support plans and maintaining clear, consistent boundaries.

Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

• At least 18 years old
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid California driver’s license
• Reliable transportation and current auto insurance (preferred)
• Ability to pass a DOJ/FBI background check through Live Scan
• Current CPR/First Aid certification and TB/health screening, or willingness to obtain them promptly
• Ability to complete all required new-hire and in-service training
• Ability to assist with transfers and remain on your feet for extended periods
• Comfortable providing personal care
• DSP or caregiving experience is preferred but not required
• Knowledge or experience with Prader-Willi syndrome is preferred
• Flexibility to provide backup or additional coverage when needed is preferred

Schedule

• Wednesday: Eight-hour shift
• Thursday: Eight-hour shift
• Total: 16 scheduled hours per week
• Occasional backup or on-call shifts may be available
