Job summary

McConnell Jones in Durham, NC is seeking a Senior Audit Supervisor for its Not-for-Profit practice. You will lead engagement teams, manage client relationships, and ensure quality audits while mentoring staff and contributing to practice growth.

The ideal candidate holds a CPA, has 5+ years of audit experience (3+ in public accounting), and brings strong GAAP/GAAS knowledge. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement and relocation consideration for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• CPA license required, or actively pursuing with a clear plan to obtain licensure.
• Minimum of 5 years of audit experience, including at least 3 years in public accounting.
• Significant experience serving Not-for-Profit clients and understanding NFP accounting and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain steady contact with clients throughout the business year, with comprehensive knowledge of the client’s business.
• Prepare engagement letters and modifications for approval, including estimated fees.
• Review staff assignments for qualifications and suitability.
• Monitor engagement progress against budget and timelines, engaging with client management.
• Lead audit engagements, supervise staff, and ensure work supports the audit opinion.
• Coach staff and provide on-the-job training and performance evaluations.
• Seek opportunities to provide additional services and develop client relationships.
