Job summary

McConnell Jones, based in Durham, NC, seeks an Audit Supervisor to lead our Not-for-Profit practice. You will deliver high-quality client service, build lasting relationships, and guide engagement teams toward timely, compliant audits.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of audit experience, CPA status or active pursuit, and a strong command of GAAP, GASB, and Not-for-Profit accounting. This role offers hybrid work arrangements and opportunities to mentor staff and grow the practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.
• CPA license or active pursuit with plan to obtain licensure.
• Minimum 5 years of audit experience, including 3 in public accounting.
• Not-for-Profit audit experience with familiarity of NFP reporting.
• Ability to lead engagements, supervise staff, manage budgets, meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead Not-for-Profit audits and client servicing with a focus on quality.
• Prepare engagement letters and scope clarifications with the client.
• Review staff assignments and ensure appropriate qualifications.
• Monitor engagement progress against budget and timelines.
• Identify and address engagement issues and variances.
• Keep leadership informed of important developments and issues.
• Supervise fieldwork staff and review work papers to support the opinion.
• Coach and develop staff through on-the-job training and evaluations.
• Assess engagement against budget and document variances with team input.
• Seek opportunities to provide additional services to clients.
• Develop a network of referral sources through professional involvement.
• Ensure compliance with data security practices as part of the program.
