Description

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is committed to providing appropriate supports and services to individuals diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. The DDS Northeast Region is seeking to a hire a professional Program Coordinator II (PC) to be part of the Regional Office’s management team. The PC II will work closely with the five Area Office’s Autism Service Coordinators and other area and regional staff. The Regional Office Autism Program Coordinator will work under the direction of the Regional Director or designee. This position will provide oversight, guidance and be responsible for providing technical assistance and resource development for the Northeast Region’s Autism Unit. The PC will maintain program tracking efforts by analyzing data and utilizing available data available in DDS’ medical records system. Responsibilities also include the ability to retrieve, organize, and integrate information, and to generate and write reports.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identify service and support needs for eligible DDS consumers who are diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder without an intellectual disability in the Northeast Region.
  • Identify existing resources and help to create new resources necessary to meet the needs of this population.
  • Develop appropriate services in day programs, employment and/or independent living supports necessary for participants to live successfully in the community.
  • Develop and maintain information about available autism specific community resources.
  • Create databases to track the participation of individuals, identify service needs and monitor individual budget allocations within the Northeast region.
  • Work closely with the provider contracted Adult Autism Support Center to plan programs and administer flex funding.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills to create new, responsive resources where gaps in services exist.
  • Work with families and individuals providing training, assistance and guidance when appropriate.
  • Serve as regional liaison to the DDS Central Office Autism Unit.
  • Chair regular meetings with the area Autism Service Coordinators
  • Organize relevant training and staff development activities.
  • Represent the region in autism-related statewide meetings
  • Provide technical assistance to DDS and provider staff.
  • Work on regional priorities and initiatives, like Assistive Technology, at the designation of the Regional Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge and previous professional experience working with individuals with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
  • Proven ability to plan, develop and organize supports and services.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written form.
  • Experience with managing projects to achieve desired outcomes
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with management-level and other area office and provider agency staff
  • Ability to participate in and contribute to a Leadership Team
  • Ability to utilize various data management systems, run reports, and analyze data in support of DDS objectives
  • Ability to prioritize, responds to multiple demands, and manages time efficiently.

Minimum Entrance Requirements

Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions

I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the-required experience.*

II. A Graduate degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.*

III. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.*

*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
