Job summary

The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Department is seeking a Nordic Instructor for the winter season. This role delivers Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking programs and manages rentals, cash handling, and facilities at the Gold Run Nordic Center.

Primary shifts are generally 8am-4pm, with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays. Open until filled; potential furnished seasonal housing may be available and an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) or more years of Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and/or fat biking experience required.
  • One (1) or more years of customer service experience required.
  • One (1) or more years of cash handling experience required.
  • Basic CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications are required within 60 days of hire.
  • Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) required within 60 days of hire.
  • Valid Driver's License or the ability to obtain within five (5) days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe and effective Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking programs through lessons, clinics and workshops.
  • Assist guests and manage rentals and equipment.
  • Handle cash and perform administrative tasks.
  • Prepare facilities and perform light maintenance.

Job description

The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Department is seeking a dedicated and customer service-oriented individual for the position of Nordic Instructor - Winter Seasonal. This position is responsible for delivering safe and effective Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking programs and services for the Recreation Department, including instruction for participants of all abilities through lessons, clinics, and workshops. This position supports daily operations at the Gold Run Nordic Center by assisting guests, managing rentals and equipment, handling cash and administrative tasks, preparing facilities, performing light maintenance, supporting special events, and ensuring safety and risk management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) or more years of Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and/or fat biking experience required.
  • One (1) or more years of customer service experience required.
  • One (1) or more years of cash handling experience required.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES REQUIRED:
  • Basic CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications are required within 60 days of hire.
  • Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) required within 60 days of hire.
  • Valid Driver's License or the ability to obtain within five (5) days of hire.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • One (1) or more years of Nordic skiing instructional experience desired.
  • PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) Level 1, 2 or 3 certification is preferred.

Typical Hiring Pay Range: $20.50 - $21.75 per hour.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Primary shifts for this position vary but are generally between the hours of 8am-4pm, however, shifts may occasionally extend as late as 8:00 p.m. depending on the program being offered. Individuals in this position must be flexible in terms of availability, and may on occasion be required to work other shifts as needed, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be available to work through the winter seasonal period established by the Recreation Department, which generally extends through the beginning of April.
