Job summary

Solitude Mountain Resort in Utah is seeking a Nordic Groomer Level 1 for the seasonal ski program. The role operates heavy snow grooming equipment to maintain trails, performing pre-op checks, fueling, and following supervisor instructions to ensure optimal ski conditions for guests.

Responsibilities include safe operation, daily logs, reporting needs to maintenance, and keeping work areas tidy. Flexibility with shifts and a strong focus on guest service are expected assets.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Willingness to work various grooming shifts and on-snow operations.
• Ability to understand equipment mechanics and grooming processes.

Responsibilities

• Operate grooming equipment to create skiing surfaces.
• Perform pre-operation checks and fueling.
• Receive shift instructions from Supervisor.
• Perform basic grooming tasks as directed by Grooming supervisor.
• Work safely and efficiently, reporting hazards.
• Secure work site at night and remove keys as needed.
• Groom/repair hazards encountered on trails.
• Inform Supervisor of unfinished scheduled jobs.
• Inform mechanics of repairs or service needs.
• Maintain logs on equipment usage.
• Remain friendly and professional with guests and staff.
• Address unsafe conditions where possible.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Perform other duties as directed.

CLASSIFICATION

Part-Time/ Seasonal /Hourly

POSITION

The Groomer operates heavy construction equipment and/or snow grooming equipment with attachments. This person operates heavy equipment in an efficient manner on an as needed basis and grooms trails with the objective of providing an enjoyable skiing surface for guests. He/she knows capability of machinery and understands maintenance functions and gauges.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Pre-operation checkout and fueling of vehicle.
• Show up for work in good condition.
• Receive instructions for shift from Supervisor.
• Preform basic grooming functions from Grooming supervisor
• Perform required work in a safe and efficient manner.
• Secure work site nightly in a reasonably safe manner, (i.e. holes marked, equipment keys removed).
• Groom/repair hazards encountered.
• Inform Supervisor of scheduled jobs not completed.
• Inform mechanics of necessary repairs and/or service needed.
• Maintain accurate up-to-date logs on equipment used.
• Maintain a friendly, congenial, and helpful attitude while effectively dealing with guests, mechanics, and other employees.
• Report and correct, if possible, unsafe conditions regarding equipment and area of work, or elsewhere on the area.
• Housekeeping of assigned work/shop/equipment area.
• Perform other duties as directed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education

• High School diploma or GED

Experience

• Experience in understanding the mechanics of snow movement and also nomenclature of equipment desirable.
• Experience as snowmaker/skiing trail crew desirable.
• Flexibility with all grooming shifts.
