Job summary

CFS, a small nonprofit, is seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting in a grant‑driven environment. Based in Stow, OH, this on‑site role partners with leadership and program teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliant grant accounting.

The successful candidate will maintain the general ledger, perform reconciliations, monitor restricted and unrestricted funds, and assist with monthly close and grant‑related reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• 2+ years of accounting experience preferred.
• Nonprofit, fund accounting, or grant accounting exposure a plus.
• Experience with restricted funds, grant budgets, or grant reporting preferred.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly general ledger close and journal entry preparation
• Perform account reconciliations, including cash, grants receivable, prepaid expenses, and balance sheet accounts
• Support accounting and tracking for restricted and unrestricted funds
• Assist with grant accounting, including recording grant revenue and tracking grant‑related expenditures
• Monitor grant budgets and compare actual expenses to approved funding levels
• Ensure expenses are properly coded and allocated to the appropriate grant, program, department, or funding source
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual grant financial reporting
• Prepare grant‑related schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
