Job summary

MyStaff in Omaha seeks a Staff Accountant to join a respected nonprofit Finance team. This mission-driven role supports programs and the broader community through accurate financial management.

You will prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, assist with monthly closes and annual reporting, support restricted and unrestricted funds, and help strengthen internal controls and processes. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field and nonprofit accounting experience are

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 2+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Understanding of GAAP and fund accounting.
• Experience with accounting software/financial systems.
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas, tables and data analysis.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization and follow-through.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet month-end, year-end and audit deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
• Perform account reconciliations and research/resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and close processes.
• Support accounting for restricted and unrestricted funds, contributions, program revenue and other nonprofit revenue streams.
• Assist with consolidating financial information across multiple entities and programs.
• Support the annual audit, including schedules, documentation and communication with external auditors.
• Assist with Form 990 and related state filings.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable and billing activities.
• Help strengthen internal controls and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes.
• Partner with departments across the organization to support accurate and timely financial information.
