Job summary

Boutique Recruiting is seeking a Sr Accountant/Staff Accountant for a hybrid role serving a national education nonprofit in the Phoenix Valley. The position supports GL, AP, cash receipts, reconciliations, and federal grant compliance, with one in-office day weekly.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in accounting, at least 3 years of accounting experience, GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• At least 3 years of accounting experience.
• Must live in Phoenix or surrounding area to commute into office one day a week.
• Strong understanding of GAAP.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Residence within 25 miles of the Phoenix Valley, AZ.
• Ability to travel fewer than 10 days per year for organizational events.
• Experience with Sage Intacct or similar financial management software is preferred.
• Experience with nonprofit accounting and federal grants is required.
• CPA and/or MBA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Director of Finance in managing the general ledger and preparing monthly bank and account reconciliations.
• Support the accounts payable process, including coding expenses and processing payments.
• Review and process employee expense reimbursements and manage company credit card use.
• Manage cash receipts in coordination with Contracts and Billing Manager.
• Assist with the federal grant drawdown process and compliance with Uniform Guidance.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and budget-to-actuals for CFO and leadership.
• Assist with annual audit and financial statements, including schedules and auditor requests.
• Develop process improvements to enhance workflow and accuracy.
• Respond to inquiries promptly and handle additional accounting tasks as assigned.
