Job summary

Selfhelp is seeking a detailed accountant who applies accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare reports. You will manage accounts payable/receivable, assist with budgets, and support program directors with funding and spending across multiple sources.

The role requires strong numerical skills, experience in non-profits, and competence with GL software and MS Office. Hybrid schedule offered with training on compliance and security.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Accounting with two years related experience; or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with one year experience.
• Computer literate; ability to work with financial databases, spreadsheets, word processing and GL software.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a non-profit sector.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs general accounting tasks including accounts payable/receivable, deposits, transfers, cash journal, and general journal.
• Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts and document transactions.
• Maintains budgets for all programs and supports program directors with funding and spending.
• Ensures timely monthly P&L reports and closeout reporting to funders; reconciles issues.
• Prepares monthly bank reconciliations and financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, trial balance).
• Attends monthly P&L meetings with Program Directors and supports grant reporting requirements.
• Completes annual mandatory trainings on compliance, information security, OSHA, HIPAA, and related topics.
• Hybrid work arrangement: 2-3 days remote and 2-3 days on-site.
