Job summary

Great Hearts Academies seeks an Accountant I for the Phoenix Home Office to support finance by verifying and entering revenue and expense transactions. The role focuses on either Payables or Receivables, with cross-training to assist both functions.

Responsibilities include managing invoices, credit card transactions, intercompany entries, and balance sheet reconciliations, with a monthly close and audit support. Requires a bachelor’s in accounting/finance and at least 2 years of experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• Prefer 2+ years of accounting/finance work experience.
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting system preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Review, code and approve all Academy invoices.
• Review, code and approve all credit card transactions in Concur.
• Enter all credit card transactions into Financial Edge monthly.
• Prepare the intercompany reconciliations.
• Reconcile Financial Edge with Raiser's Edge monthly.
• Work with Great Hearts Arizona to reconcile the pledges receivable account monthly.
• Maintain and prepare entries for balance sheet accounts (accrued payables, accrued payroll, accrued performance pay, deposit reconciliation, deferred revenue, debt).
• Responsible for monthly close process; ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Assist with annual financial audits including schedule preparation and auditor interaction.
