Job summary

The Bush Foundation in St. Paul, MN is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join its finance team.

The role focuses on maintaining the general ledger, processing payables, payroll, budgets, and financial statement preparation for a private foundation with a strong community focus. Qualified candidates have 5+ years in a comprehensive accounting role, preferably in non-profit organizations, and an accounting degree; CPA/CMA is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a comprehensive accounting role, preferably in a non-profit or public organization.
• Accounting degree required or equivalent experience.
• CPA/CMA certification would be a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and independently.
• Strong relationship and collaboration skills, with experience engaging diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, process journal entries, and reconcile ledger and bank accounts.
• Process accounts payable, including cash transfers to fund payments.
• Assist Controller and CFO with budget and financial statement preparation and analyses for management.
• Maintain accounting and fixed asset records in alignment with Foundation policies and IRS guidelines.
• Prepare bi-weekly payroll and manage related annual tax reporting.
• Administer employee benefit plan enrollments and related vendor payments.
• Prepare schedules for external auditors and for annual tax filing.
