Legal Aid Nonprofit - Managing Attorney

A legal aid nonprofit in LA seeks a Managing Attorney to join their Executive Team with the primary responsibility of ensuring that the organization provides high-quality, impactful legal services. In this role, you will supervise Directing Attorneys (who supervise Staff Attorneys). This is a supervisory role, not one in which you will provide legal services to clients.

Role Requirements:

• At least 3 years of legal experience working with underserved/vulnerable populations or with a nonprofit (ideally both).
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
• This role is largely remote, with no more than 3 days in the office per month.

Compensation: Base salary of $120,000 - $150,000, with a potential sign-on bonus and excellent benefits.

Responsibilities

• Supervising, supporting, managing, hiring, training, motivating, counseling, and evaluating Project Directors annually.
• Partnering with the Pro Bono Director to develop relationships with pro bono counsel and leverage resources.
• Collaborating with the Directors of Strategic Initiatives and Program Operations to improve system integration, data tracking, and client service quality.
• Working with the COO to embed DEIA principles across programs.
• Partnering with the CFO on the annual budgeting process.
• Ensuring programmatic alignment across departments for policy, development, and operations.
• Representing the organization to community partners and government agencies.

Skills and Qualifications
