Job summary

Regional Food Bank in New York is seeking a Staff Accountant to assist the Finance Department with grants, credit card transactions, account reconciliations, and month-end close.

The role reports to the Director of Finance, is full-time and non-exempt, and requires an associate degree in accounting or 2–5 years of related experience, plus strong Excel and communication skills. Candidates should be detail-oriented and able to handle confidential information.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Accounting or 2–5 years of related experience.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills, with excellent follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all areas of the Finance Department with a primary focus on grants, credit cards, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Process payment requests, invoices, and drawdowns; verify costs are reasonable and allocable.
• Track award spending, manage salary allocations, and prevent unallowable cost transfers.
• Reconcile custodial accounts and report unused or expiring funds to management.
• Handle weekly credit card transactions and reconciliation; assist with year-end audit.
