Job summary

First Step Home, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to handle daily accounting, payroll, and Medicaid billing support. The role supports the finance team with data entry, reconciliations, journal entries, and vendor payments, in a nonprofit setting.

You'll work with Sage, Excel, and contract billing systems (GOSH) to ensure accurate reporting, timely processing, and compliance with program requirements and internal controls. On-site position in Cincinnati.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in the accounting field, preferably nonprofit.
• Knowledge of Excel, Sage and accounting software.
• Knowledge of Medicaid billing with Managed Care Organizations, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with HCMHRS data entry and contract billing system (GOSH) reconciliation.
• Process payroll including timecard management via the internet.
• Process online Truist account and HSA contributions from both employee and employer.
• Handle accounts payable: invoices, ACH, credit card, and check payments; file records.
• Monthly reconciliation of bank and credit card statements and provide supporting reports.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports for reimbursement (ERM).
• Compile receipts and invoices; manage client ledgers for residential and housing programs; monitor ledger balances.
• Oversee EBT cards and process as requested by Case Managers.
• Assist in Accounts Receivable: bank deposits and Sage entries.
• Assist in budget development, annual audit, and grant allocations.
• Support marketing and administrative duties as needed.
