Job summary

Between Friends in Chicago seeks an experienced Finance Manager to coordinate and manage all fiscal and administrative aspects of the agency, ensuring accurate bookkeeping and reporting.

The role oversees accounts payable, general ledger, annual IRS audit, budget development, grant administration, and financial controls. Collaboration with the Executive Director and senior management is essential to support equity-focused programming.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting; CPA or MBA preferred.
• 3 years fiscal and administrative management experience in not-for-profit budgeting and government contracts.
• PC literate with strong Word and Excel; experience with Sage/MIP accounting software.
• Commitment to Between Friends mission and equity focus.
• Office environment not fully accessible.

Responsibilities

• Performs general bookkeeping and maintains General Ledger.
• Manages Accounts Payable and documentation of funds received.
• Provides monthly and quarterly financial reports.
• Develops and maintains fiscal policies and procedures.
• Coordinates annual IRS audit and assists in budget development.
• Oversees work of financial consultant and supports grant-related tasks.
• Works with senior team and executives on financial planning and reporting.
