Job summary

Hartford Roman Catholic Diocesan Corporation seeks a Manager of Finance to oversee day-to-day financial management, accounting operations, budgeting, cash flow, and financial reporting for a nonprofit school.

You will ensure GAAP compliance, donor restrictions adherence, and robust internal controls while coordinating audits and maintaining asset records for mission-focused operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• CPA preferred but not required.
• Minimum four years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization.

Responsibilities

• Define, document, and maintain internal controls and segregation of duties for expense approvals, purchasing, accounts payable, electronic payments, cash receipts, and check signing.
• Maintain responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger.
• Oversee accounts payable operations and vendor payments.
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and liquidity requirements.
• Prepare monthly cash flow requirements to monitor liquidity and funding needs.
• Reconcile balances between unrestricted and restricted cash accounts.
• Reconcile investment activities and proper classification of net assets.
• Prepare and review general ledger reconciliations.
• Record payroll transactions.
• Coordinate annual operating and capital budget preparation.
• Serve as primary liaison for external audit activities and audit requests.
• Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and capital asset inventories.
• Prepare financial statements, variance analyses, and management reports.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, donor restrictions, and internal control requirements.
• Maintain accounting policies and procedures documentation.
• Maintain good working relationships with school community and external authorities.
