Job summary

St. Jude’s Ranch for Children is seeking an experienced Controller to strengthen accounting processes, controls, reporting, and ability to manage complex grant-funded operations. The role oversees staff, budgets, cash flow, and compliance across multiple entities, directing audits and financial statements.

The position requires an advanced accounting background, nonprofit grant experience, and leadership to enhance the organization’s financial position and stewardship of funds.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and 10 years of progressively responsible accounting experience; nonprofit/government grants experience preferred.
• Direct experience with Uniform Guidance and Single Audits, cost-reimbursement grant billing and reconciliation, restricted net asset accounting, and multi-entity or consolidated reporting required.
• GAAP knowledge; budget development and administration; strong internal controls and financial reporting.
• Supervisory experience including staff development, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct assigned staff; prioritize tasks; recruit and evaluate staff.
• Develop and implement goals, procedures, and work standards; manage department budget.
• Coordinate with management on financial activities, policies, and initiatives.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, receivables, and grant reimbursements; monitor liquidity.
• Ensure compliance with state/federal laws and grant regulations; support audits.
• Oversee payroll preparation; prepare and direct fiscal reports and audits.
• Review accounting documents for accuracy; prepare journal entries and allocate costs.
• Prepare, maintain, and analyze budgets; support multi-entity reporting and grant accounting.
