Job summary

American Heart Association in Knoxville is offering an internship on the Development Team to support fundraising campaigns and signature events such as Heart Ball and Go Red for Women. You will assist with donor communications, event logistics, prospect research, and marketing materials while learning the full fundraising cycle.

The program provides hands-on experience in a non-profit setting, with access to Heart U and local/National Center support to help you balance work-life and career goals.

Qualifications

• Senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in business, preferably marketing, event planning, or public relations.
• Comfortable with external outreach via phone calls and emails to vendors and donors.
• Experience or interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
• Experience with event planning for non-profit or for-profit organizations.
• Exposure to project management methodologies or tools; strong communication with leaders, volunteers, staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development and implementation of fundraising activities, logistics, and admin support for the Knoxville market.
• Support fundraising campaigns Go Red for Women, Heart Challenge, Heart of Knoxville with Event Coordinators and Directors.
• Assist with pre-campaign planning, day-of-event execution, and post-campaign wrap-up projects.
• Execute outreach to donors, volunteers, and vendors via calls and emails.
• Develop and update marketing materials for campaigns (save-the-dates, invitations, social posts).
• Assist with volunteer management, meetings (in-person and virtual).
• Conduct prospect research to generate leads and support fundraising campaigns.
