Job summary

The American Heart Association is offering an internship on the Development Team in Austin, Texas. The role supports Go Red For Women, Cycle Nation, Heart Ball, Red Hot Summer Night, and Impact Campaigns, assisting with planning, execution, and follow‑up of campaigns.

You will help with fundraising activities, marketing materials, donor outreach, and data management using tools like Luminate and Tableau. 20–25 hours weekly, hybrid in Austin.

Qualifications

• Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, nonprofit management, marketing, event planning, or public relations.
• Must be comfortable with vendor outreach (phone calls & emails to vendors & donors).
• Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
• Experience with event planning for a non-profit or for-profit organization.
• Demonstrated skills in effective one‑on‑one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
• Proficient in Canva with knowledge of using templates and creating social media graphics.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development and implementation of fundraising activities, logistics, and administrative support for the Austin market.
• Support Go Red for Women, Cycle Nation, Heart Ball, Red Hot Summer Night, and Impact Campaign campaigns.
• Contribute to pre‑campaign planning, day-of-event execution, and post‑campaign wrap‑up projects.
• Make external calls and send emails to donors, volunteers, and vendors.
• Utilize event systems like Luminate and Tableau to manage data entry and run reports.
• Develop and update marketing materials (save the dates, invitations, social posts, volunteer rosters, collateral).
• Assist with volunteer management including meetings (in-person and virtual).
• Conduct prospect research to generate new leads for fundraising campaigns.
• Help drive strategy to increase market volunteerism.
