Job summary

Senior Neighbors, Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI, seeks a Development and Communications Intern to support social media, campaigns, events, and donor engagement. This part-time internship (10-15 hours/week) offers hands-on nonprofit communications experience under the Director of Development.

You will collaborate with staff to create newsletters, manage content, and coordinate fundraising activities while learning in a supportive, mentored environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree.
  • Affinity for older adults and community service.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with social media platforms and basic analytics preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Canva or Adobe skills a plus.
  • Ability to use Zoom and Teams for virtual meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Create and schedule social media content to promote Senior Neighbors’ brand, services, fundraising efforts, and events.
  • Assist in gathering, creating, and editing content for newsletters, emails, and other communication pieces.
  • Monitor social media analytics and provide reports to help optimize engagement strategies.
  • Assist in planning, promotion, and execution of fundraising and community events with logistics coordination and volunteer management.
  • Coordinate donor and volunteer communications, including thank-you notes and follow-ups.
