Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to provide comprehensive legal and compliance counsel for a nonprofit, handling contracts, government grants, regulatory compliance, litigation, risk assessment, policy development, data governance, and employment, healthcare, privacy and governance matters.

Qualifications

Must be a graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Illinois.
At least 3 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house counsel.
Incumbent must remain a member of the Illinois State Bar in good standing for the duration of employment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Windows operating systems, Adobe, and other software used by Catholic Charities.

Responsibilities

Provide sound legal guidance on contracts, health care issues, employment matters, and litigation and coordinate with outside counsel as needed.
Assist with risk assessments related to contracts and policies; help develop organizational contract approval processes.
Collaborate with Chief Compliance Officer to develop and manage the compliance program and policy revisions.
Create reports and manage data governance, and advise on government contracting, tax, and exempt-organization issues.
