Job summary

YouthBeat is a registered nonprofit in Oakland seeking a results-driven Chief Operating Officer to oversee operations, finance, HR, and administration. This hybrid role in Oakland, CA aligns teams to maximize social impact and sustain growth while upholding YouthBeat’s values.

The COO will partner with the CEO to implement strategic plans, manage budgets, and foster a collaborative culture across departments, ensuring compliance and high-quality programs for youth development.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of senior-level management experience, including operations, finance, human resources, and administration.
• Experience managing operations with complex funding streams, HR functions and other compliance needs.
• Experience leading nonprofit financial activities such as accounting, budget building and fiscal management.
• Strong strategic planning, analytic, problem-solving, and implementation skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the organization as a whole.
• Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards and requirements.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across all departments.
• Serve as a proxy for the CEO when needed, bridging departments and overseeing internal operations across the organization.
• Support senior staff to develop program models and community partnerships to ensure continuous program quality improvement.
• Ensure impact metrics, grant/compliance deliverables, and quality standards are met.
• Develop and implement strategic plans with the CEO and senior leadership team.
• Work with fundraising, communications, and program teams to align external efforts with internal operations.
