Job summary

Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County seeks a senior financial leader to serve as CFO, guiding a small finance team and aligning with the Director of Grants Management & Compliance. The role focuses on modernizing financial systems and enabling data-driven decisions across departments.

The successful candidate will bring nonprofit accounting expertise, cross-functional collaboration skills with lawyers, and a commitment to social justice while upholding integrity and excellence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of VP-level leadership and management experience.
• Experience in nonprofit sector, preferably legal aid.
• Experience with nonprofit accounting.
• CPA or audit background preferred but not required.
• Experience with unions/collective bargaining agreements a plus.
• Experience working closely with lawyers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage a small team of finance and accounting professionals.
• Lead a multi-year effort to streamline financial systems and processes.
• Collaborate with the Director of Grants Management & Compliance.
• Support other departments to gain data for decision-making and strategy.
