Job summary

Dismas Charities Inc. is seeking an Assistant Controller to support daily financial operations, month-end close, and reporting. You will work closely with the Controller to safeguard financial records and improve internal controls.

The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a standard daytime schedule. Qualified candidates have a bachelor's in accounting and at least five years of accounting experience in a nonprofit or similar environment.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting software; familiarity with Business Central preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Controller with daily financial operations and month-end close.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Maintain general ledger and resolve discrepancies.
• Produce financial statements, reports, and schedules for Controller review.
• Develop and maintain financial dashboards to track KPIs.
• Support external audits and regulatory reporting.
• Ensure internal controls and financial policies are followed.
• Review accounting staff work and provide guidance and training.
• Identify process improvements and communicate status updates.
