Job summary

District Partners is partnering with a well-established trade association to appoint an Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager who will own the organization’s core accounting and financial reporting function in Alexandria, VA.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, this hands-on role leads monthly close, strengthens internal controls, and ensures GAAP-compliant reporting while staying involved in day-to-day accounting and analysis for a not-for-profit organization with approximately $10M in

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
5+ years progressive accounting experience with nonprofit audits preferred.
Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting experience.
Experience managing month-end close and internal controls.

Responsibilities

Own the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Lead the month-end close processes and supervise day-to-day accounting activities.
Coordinate annual financial statement audits and Form 990 filings; strengthen policies and controls.
Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
