Job summary

San José State University Research Foundation (SJSURF) is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting operations, including accounts receivable, cash application, revenue recognition, and monthly reconciliations to ensure accuracy between subsidiary records and the general ledger.

The role also leads month-end close with the controller, supervises fixed asset and lease accounting, and oversees risk management, insurance renewals, cost allocations, and support for audits and

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of GAAP with understanding of nonprofit accounting and federal grant regulations.
• Experience with audits including single audits and federal requirements preferred.
• Strong analytical skills for reviewing, reconciling, and reporting complex financial data.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounts receivable, cash application, collections, revenue recognition (including deferred revenue), and monthly reconciliations.
• Manage month-end close activities with the controller, review trial balance accounts, and support financial accuracy.
• Oversee bank and other designated accounts for accuracy and completeness.
• Manage fixed asset and lease accounting, including recording and reporting.
• Oversee risk management and compliance activities with AR coordination.
• Review insurance renewals, cost allocations, and registration administration; support audits and financial reporting.
