Job summary

The Cleveland Foundation seeks an experienced accountant to maintain financial integrity and donor stewardship. This role supports gifts, grants, investment activity, and monthly close, partnering with Philanthropy, Grants Management, Investments, and external partners to deliver accurate reporting.

You will reconcile accounts, manage the fixed asset ledger, and assist with audit readiness, policy compliance, and process improvements in a professional nonprofit environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Three to five years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Strong proficiency with Excel and accounting systems; GAAP knowledge.
• Experience in nonprofit or foundation environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and record gifts, pledge payments, and donor transactions accurately and promptly.
• Reconcile gift activity across donor funds, investment pools, and general ledger.
• Maintain fund-level accounting records and resolve gift-related questions with teams.
