Job summary

Kratos Defense and Security Solutions in Birmingham, AL offers a CO-OP opportunity in our research division (Kratos SRE). The program requires a 3-semester commitment with a rotation, then a school term, to gain hands-on experience in test prep, data analysis and reporting.

Candidates should be freshmen in engineering, CS, physics or math with strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a secured facility requiring background checks and U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen able to obtain Top Secret clearance.
• Freshman year in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities.
• Ability to work well with others in a dynamic environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Self-motivated to continually expand knowledge and skills related to this position.

Responsibilities

• Assist in test hardware design using solid modeling software and rapid prototyping.
• Support data collection, analysis, and reporting for test campaigns.
• Prepare drawings, test requests, and documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, lab and machine shop personnel to enable project success.
• Contribute to test method development in the laboratory.
