Job summary

Kratos Defense and Security Solutions (SRE) in Birmingham, AL offers a CO-OP position spanning three semesters with rotating semesters between on-site work and school. You will support engineers in test preparation, data analysis, and presentation, and contribute to composite, ceramic, and metal assessments for aerospace propulsion and hypersonic applications.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
• Completed freshman year in aerospace, mechanical, or materials engineering
• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to work well with others in a dynamic environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
• Self-motivated to continually expand knowledge and skills related to this position
• Completed sophomore year in aerospace, mechanical, or materials engineering (preferred)
• Candidates who display strong work ethic and time management are valued

Responsibilities

• Design test hardware using solid modeling software
• Prepare test documentation and drawings
• Collect, analyze, and report data
• Develop laboratory test methods
• Assist other engineers and staff as assigned
• Travel to off-site test facilities and vendor locations if required
