Job summary

Hope College invites applications for a Non-Tenure-Track Instructor of Studio Art in Design, beginning Fall 2027. Primary teaching responsibilities include 100-level design courses that focus on general foundations of 2D design principles and basic skills in appropriate design software.

The instructor shall also teach one upper-level design course to develop design thinking and exploration. The expected teaching load is 24 workload credits per academic year, including syllabi preparation,

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in studio art or design.

Responsibilities

• Teach 100-level design courses focused on 2D design foundations and basic design software.
• Teach one upper-level design course developing design thinking and exploration.
• Handle a 24 workload credit annual teaching load; prepare syllabi, deliver instruction, assess students, maintain office hours, and manage the design budget.
• Attend department meetings, critiques, De Pree Gallery events, and assist in launching and overseeing the design minor; future seminary rotations possible.
