Salary: The expected academic base salary range for this position is: $54,500-$100,500.
We are seeking to hire a lecturer or senior lecturer as a full-time member of the Biology department. The Biology department oversees one of the largest undergraduate majors on our campus and teaches students in other majors who are pursuing careers in science or health-related fields as well as those fulfilling general education requirements. The person in this lecturer position should be motivated, knowledgeable, flexible, and collaborative to help meet the changing needs of undergraduates at Johns Hopkins. Responsibilities will include developing teaching materials, writing and grading assessments, maintaining course websites in the Canvas learning management system, working with undergraduate and graduate student teaching assistants, mentoring undergraduates in biology and molecular and cellular biology majors, and general collegial participation in department initiatives.
The lecturer will have a year of onboarding, teaching 1 class per semester and then teach two classes per semester thereafter. Specific duties include:
Candidates should have a PhD in biology or a closely related field and 1-2 years of experience teaching undergraduates in biology and should be familiar with current best practices in effective and inclusive teaching. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational skills and demonstrated enthusiasm for interacting with undergraduate students are desired.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
