Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare West in Houston, TX seeks a Non-Registered CT Technologist to join our imaging team. This role focuses on preparing patients, positioning for CT scans, and delivering high-quality diagnostic images under physician guidance.

The CT Technologist works with radiology staff to maintain safety, manage contrast processes, and uphold infection control while supporting patient education and comfort throughout the procedure. Certification requirements include ARRT-R and BCLS.

Qualifications

• BCLS certification required within 30 days of start date.
• ARRT-R Radiography certification/licensure required.
• Proficient in CT procedures and patient positioning.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures by explaining the process.
• Position patients to accurately capture CT images as directed by physicians.
• Operate CT equipment and ensure safe dose management.
• Assess patient readiness including consent, scheduling, and screening.
• Monitor patient vital signs and comfort during procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and IV procedures as needed.
• Apply knowledge of contrast agents and imaging protocols.

Job Summary And Qualifications

CT Technologist prepare patients for diagnostic procedures by explaining the process and positioning patients to correctly capture the images requested by a physician. Techs operate CT equipment, which produces cross-sectional images of patients’ bones, organs and tissue that are used to diagnose medical conditions.

What you will do in this role:

• Demonstrates competency in patient preparation including consent, scheduling and screening, patient education.
• Demonstrates knowledge of patient assessment including history, monitoring, vital signs, oximetry, heart rhythm.
• Demonstrates knowledge of laboratory values including renal function (e.g. BUN, Creatinine clearance, GFR, PT.
• Demonstrates knowledge of IV procedures, venipuncture, site selection, aseptic and sterile technique.
• Demonstrates knowledge of contrast agents, ionic, non-ionic, hyper-osmolar, iso-osmolar, barium sulfate, water.
• Demonstrates knowledge of administration route (IV, oral, rectal, intrathecal, catheters, intra-articular) and calculations.
• Demonstrates knowledge of technical factors affecting patient dose; KVp, MAs, pitch, collimation MA modulation.
• Demonstrates knowledge of radiation protection and dose measurement and CT dose index (CTDI).

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
