Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare West is seeking a Non-Registered CT Technologist to join our imaging team. The role includes preparing patients, positioning for CT scans, and maintaining patient safety throughout the procedure.

Qualifications

• Validation as RT Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer (ARRT-R).
• CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days of start.
• Ability to operate CT equipment and ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for CT procedures and explain the process.
• Position patients to optimize image quality.
• Monitor vital signs and assess patient status during imaging.
• Perform IV procedures and manage contrast administration.
• Apply safety protocols for Radiation protection and dose optimization.
• Maintain accurate imaging records and collaborate with the medical team.

Job Summary and Qualifications

CT Technologist prepare patients for diagnostic procedures by explaining the process and positioning patients to correctly capture the images requested by a physician. Techs operate CT equipment, which produces cross-sectional images of patients’ bones, organs and tissue that are used to diagnose medical conditions.

What you will do in this role:

• Demonstrates competency in patient preparation including consent, scheduling and screening, patient education.
• Demonstrates knowledge of patient assessment including history, monitoring, vital signs, oximetry, heart rhythm.
• Demonstrates knowledge of laboratory values including renal function (e.g. BUN, Creatinine clearance, GFR, PT.
• Demonstrates knowledge of IV procedures, venipuncture, site selection, aseptic and sterile technique.
• Demonstrates knowledge of contrast agents, ionic, non-ionic, hyper-osmolar, iso-osmolar, barium sulfate, water.
• Demonstrates knowledge of administration route (IV, oral, rectal, intrathecal, catheters, intra-articular) and calculations.
• Demonstrates knowledge of technical factors affecting patient dose; KVp, MAs, pitch, collimation MA modulation.
• Demonstrates knowledge of radiation protection and dose measurement and CT dose index (CTDI).

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (RT) Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer
• (ARRT-R) Radiography
