Job summary

Pitt County Government is hiring a Non-Emergency Transportation Driver to operate a van or bus on scheduled routes, transporting individuals to human service locations, work sites, and medical facilities. The role requires daily vehicle inspections, accurate trip logs, and safe operation in accordance with NC NEMT policies.

You will maintain cleanliness of the vehicle, assist passengers, and communicate with dispatch by radio.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid NC driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to obtain CDL per MA-2910/3550 for NEMT.
• Eligible to provide NEMT to Medicaid recipients.
• Criminal background and driving history checks.

Responsibilities

• Operate a van or bus on a scheduled route to transport individuals to human service locations, work sites, and medical facilities.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections, fueling, and cleaning inside/outside.
• Maintain accurate daily trip logs and fares; report repairs promptly.
• Communicate with dispatcher via radio; follow safety regulations and seat belt rules.
• Attend training including CPR, first aid, and special needs assistance.
