Job summary

North East Medical Services (NEMS) is seeking a Driver I to transport patients, specimens, and supplies between clinics and community locations. You will ensure safety, assist with boarding, and maintain vehicle readiness under the IDT directions.

Responsibilities include adhering to regulatory standards, keeping logs, and supporting transportation efficiency. Strong customer service and communication are essential, with bilingual ability viewed as a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or 1 year commercial driving experience.
• Valid CA driver’s license with a clean record.
• Pass 10-panel drug screening, blood alcohol and DOT physical tests.
• Basic Life Support and First Aid within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to operate mid to large size vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport patients, documents, specimens, and supplies between clinics and locations.
• Load/unload following procedures; safeguard badges and sensitive documents.
• Transport patients to medical appointments as per IDT and regulatory rules.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and address malfunctions; report issues promptly.
• Maintain daily records, route details, and fuel logs; assist in route planning.
• Build rapport with patients and care team; use Epic for workflows.
