Job summary

Peak Vista Community Health Centers in Colorado Springs is seeking a responsible associate to provide support in clinic instrumentation care. This role includes sterilization processes, and excellent communication and critical thinking skills are required.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in sterile processing, possess a high school diploma, and be capable of handling fast-paced environments. We offer competitive compensation including a sign-on bonus for eligible full-time employees.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of previous experience in sterile processing or dental assistant with sterilization experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a nonprofit health care organization whose mission is to provide exceptional health care to people facing access barriers through clinical programs and education. We provide integrated health care services including medical, dental, and behavioral health through our 20 outpatient health centers. We deliver care with our strong "Hospitality" culture. Our organization has over 800 employees and serves more than 74,300 patients annually in the Pikes Peak and East Central regions of Colorado. Our service area covers 14 counties, from the front range to the Kansas border, with locations throughout Colorado Springs, Fountain, Divide, Limon, and Strasburg. Peak Vista is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC).

Compensation

$20.00 to $29.00 hourly, based on experience.

A $1,000 sign‑on bonus will be paid in the following manner: $300 payout upon 30 days of employment, $300 payout upon 90 days of employment, and $400 payout upon one year of employment. Current employees are not eligible for the sign‑on bonus. Loyalty Bonus – $1,200 upon 1 year of service and then a $300 payout for every additional 3 months worked. This applies only to full‑time employees. The amount will be prorated for part‑time employees.

Job Summary

Responsible for providing clinic support through the proper care and handling of all Dental and Medical Clinic instrumentation. This includes receiving, cleaning, decontaminating, packaging, and redistributing instrumentation to specified clinics in accordance with guidelines and recommendations. The position requires excellent communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work as a team with minimal supervision. The associate must be able to work in a fast‑paced, proactive, upbeat environment and possess critical thinking skills as it relates to sterile processing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintains departmental organization and cleanliness.
  • Conducts appropriate sterilization cycles in accordance with instrument manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Maintains accurate tracking/documentation for all clinic instrumentation received and distributed.
  • Maintains records of continuing education.
  • Provides appropriate communication and tags any instrumentation or equipment removed from service.
  • Verifies cleanliness of instrumentation and assembles in accordance with the instructions.
  • Prioritizes daily tasks and clinic deliveries.
  • Provides appropriate communication for needed supplies.
  • Assists with clinic instrument transportation when needed.
  • Works weekends and/or alternate shifts as necessary.
  • Performs tasks and responsibilities as assigned by department manager.
  • Ability to travel inside and outside of the Colorado Springs area.
  • Promotes and demonstrates the mission, vision, and Core Values of Peak Vista.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with all departments, the management team, medical staff, and leadership.

Education / Experience

Education: High school diploma or equivalent education.

Work Experience: 1 year of previous experience in sterile processing or dental assistant with sterilization experience preferred.

Certificates and Licenses
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age or older to be an eligible driver on behalf of Peak Vista.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Must meet and maintain driver criteria as prescribed by Peak Vista’s insurance underwriter.
  • Active certification of CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) from IAHCSMM or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician) from CBSPD or Certified Dental Assistant with sterilization experience preferred.
  • CPR Certification to be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
Computer Skills

Intermediate ability to access the intranet/internet to manage timesheets, review policies and procedures, read company communications, use e‑mail to communicate with co‑workers, leadership and other departments, and use and create a variety of templates, complex tables, manage table data, sort and filter merges and perform basic work with existing macros; customize toolbars, import and insert graphs, embed Excel data and elaborate reports; work with multiple worksheets, filter data, use integrated functions and manipulate databases; customize templates and the PowerPoint environment and make a presentation interactive by using hyperlinks and active buttons.
