Job summary

AdventHealth Sebring is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to receive, clean, disinfect, inspect, and prepare instruments for sterilization. You will verify items, maintain records, and support supply levels for surgical cases in a full‑time, day shift role in Florida.

Responsibilities include ensuring proper sterilization processes, maintaining equipment inventory, and staying dependable with on‑call assignments while pursuing professional development.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred; high school diploma required.
• Technical or vocational training preferred for this role.
• Previous sterile processing knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receive soiled instruments and equipment from surgery, anesthesia and nursing units.
• Clean, disinfect and inspect instruments; verify items and quantities for sterilization.
• Maintain sterilization records and track equipment issued to nursing units.
• Assist with supply levels and case preparation; maintain clean, orderly work area.
• Possess dependability and flexibility to meet scheduling needs; on-call as needed.

Job Description:

Receives soiled and contaminated instruments or equipment from surgery, anesthesia, and nursing units. Prepares, cleans, and disinfects instruments and equipment appropriately. Inspects all instruments and equipment for damages, malfunction, or unacceptable condition. Prepares instruments and equipment for sterilization by verifying correct items and quantities. Assures proper sterilization procedures are performed and the effectiveness of the sterilizing process. Maintains required records on sterilization and tracks equipment and instruments issued to nursing units. Assists with maintaining adequate supply levels and supply preparation for surgical cases. Maintains cleanliness and proper order in the work area. Demonstrates proficient use of all equipment and knowledge of stocking and par levels for nursing units. Shows dependability and flexibility in meeting the scheduling needs of the department. Assumes on‑call assignments and takes responsibility for personal and professional development. Other duties as assigned.
