Job summary

AdventHealth Zephyrhills is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to receive, clean, disinfect, inspect, and sterilize instruments and equipment for surgical services and nursing units.

You will maintain records, stock levels, and assist with on-call coverage while upholding quality, safety, and infection control standards. Full-time night shift in Florida, with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical or vocational training preferred for Sterile Processing.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, cleans, and disinfects instruments and equipment.
• Inspects instruments for damages and proper functionality; maintains sterilization records.

Job Description

Receives soiled and contaminated instruments or equipment from surgery, anesthesia, and nursing units. Prepares, cleans, and disinfects instruments and equipment appropriately. Inspects all instruments and equipment for damages, malfunction, or unacceptable condition. Prepares instruments and equipment for sterilization by verifying correct items and quantities. Assures proper sterilization procedures are performed and the effectiveness of the sterilizing process. Maintains required records on sterilization and tracks equipment and instruments issued to nursing units. Assists with maintaining adequate supply levels and supply preparation for surgical cases. Maintains cleanliness and proper order in the work area. Demonstrates proficient use of all equipment and knowledge of stocking and par levels for nursing units. Shows dependability and flexibility in meeting the scheduling needs of the department. Assumes on-call assignments and takes responsibility for personal and professional development. Other duties as assigned.

Education

• Associate [Preferred]
• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]

Work Experience

• Previous sterile processing technician experience [Preferred]

Licenses And Certifications

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
• Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) [Preferred] OR Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) [Preferred]

Pay Range

$16.30 - $26.08
