Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s Twinsburg Family Health and Surgery Center seeks a dedicated Ophthalmic Assistant to support ophthalmologists and patient care in a fast-paced setting. You will take histories, run diagnostic tests, schedule exams and prep exam rooms.

Ideal candidates have at least a year in ophthalmic care, strong medical terminology, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. A sign-on bonus of up to $2,500 is offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in an ophthalmic setting providing direct patient care.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Ophthalmic Assistants provide vision care under the supervision of a licensed ophthalmologist and assist with taking patient histories, performing diagnostic tests and procedures, patient scheduling, and exam room preparation.

A caregiver in this position works 7:30am to 4:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Receive and prepare patients for examination or treatment.
• Perform initial patient examinations, ophthalmic testing procedures and routine screening tests.
• Assist physicians with examinations and procedures.
• Document patient information in their medical record.
• Perform clerical, stocking, maintenance and related duties.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year experience in an ophthalmic setting providing direct patient care.
• Additional formal education or training in ophthalmology may substitute for some or all of the stated experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology

Physical Requirements

• Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and PC.
• Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
• May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
• Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $16.47

Maximum hourly: $23.61
