Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant Non Certified to support the Ophthalmologist with clinical and administrative tasks in the Cole Eye Clinic. You will assist with patient preparation, examinations and procedures, in a welcoming, patient-first environment.

Day shift 7:30am–5:00pm at the Stow Falls Medical Office Center location, requiring a High School Diploma/GED and ophthalmic care experience or formal training plus knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• 1 year of experience in ophthalmic setting providing direct patient care OR additional formal training in Ophthalmology.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Receive and prepare patients for examination or treatment.
• Perform initial patient examinations, ophthalmic testing procedures and routine screening tests.
• Assist physicians with examinations and procedures.

As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will support the Ophthalmologist by performing various clinical and administrative tasks throughout the department. You will assist with direct patient care as directed, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and at ease throughout their appointment and exam. In this role, your ability to facilitate a welcoming environment can make a difference in the lives of Cleveland Clinic patients every day.

A caregiver in this position works 7:30am to 5:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Receive and prepare patients for examination or treatment.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/GED
• One year of experience in an ophthalmic setting providing direct patient care OR additional formal training in Ophthalmology
• Knowledge of medical terminology

Physical Requirements:

• Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and PC.
• Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
• May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
• Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
