Job summary

WH Wheeling Hospital Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and nursing staff. The role includes greeting patients, preparing exam rooms, and assisting with exams and procedures in a clinical setting.

Requirements include a Medical Assistant program completion or 1 year of clinical experience, high school diploma, and BLS certification within 30 days of hire. Travel between facilities may be required in this position.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patient to exam rooms; obtain initial information and vital signs.
• Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and supply readiness.
• Assists with and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures.
• Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed.
• Assists provider during patient examinations and procedures.
• Educates patients on follow-up expectations.
• Maintains quality control testing logs as required.
• Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition.
• Assists patients with completion of medical documentation.
• Assists with office administrative tasks (phones, messages, data entry, deposits).

Job description

Performs basic nursing skills, and/or serves under the direction and supervision of the practice physician and/or registered nursing staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2. Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR one (1) year of experience in a clinical setting.
• 3. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1. Completion of healthcare education course work.

EXPERIENCE:

• 1.One (1) year of healthcare experience.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 1. Greets and escorts patient to exam rooms; prepares for physician visit by obtaining initial information and vital signs.
• 2. Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and availability of supplies.
• 3. Assists with and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures.
• 4. Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed.
• 5. Assists provider during patient examinations and procedures.
• 6. Educates patients on follow up expectations.
• 7.Maintains quality control testing logs as required.
• 8. Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition.
• 9. Assists patients with completion of medical documentation.
• 10. Assists with office administrative tasks to include but not limited to answering phones, taking messages, performing office related task (copying, printing, data entry, etc.) and assisting with depositing of cash and other closing duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• 1. MEDIUM WORK - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly).
• 2. Ability to bend, stoop, reach and be capable of normal rotation, standing and walking for an 8-12 hour shift.
