Job summary

Wheeling Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform basic nursing skills and support under the supervision of physicians and registered nursing staff. The role includes patient preparation, exams, procedures, and administrative tasks, with a focus on accurate documentation and patient education.

Required qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, completion of a Medical Assistant program or 1 year clinical experience, and BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Greets and escorts patient to exam rooms; obtains initial information and vital signs.
  • Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and supplies.
  • Assists with and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures.
  • Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed.
  • Assists provider during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Educates patients on follow up expectations.
  • Maintains quality control testing logs as required.
  • Ensures medical equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Assists patients with completion of medical documentation.
  • Performs office administrative tasks including answering phones, taking messages, data entry, and assisting with deposits.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR one (1) year of experience in a clinical setting.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
Preferred Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

  • Completion of healthcare education course work.
Experience
  • One (1) year of healthcare experience.
