Job summary

Cherry Creek School District Transportation is seeking a Non-CDL Driver to transport students on district routes and assist in other transportation duties. You will support students with special needs, perform daily vehicle inspections, and ensure safety and courteous service across routes.

The role requires a valid Colorado driver's license, background check, CPR/First Aid certification, and completion of the Transportation Small Vehicle Training Program after hire.

JOB SUMMARY

Contribute to the overall success of the Cherry Creek School District Transportation Department through regular route driving, field-trip driving, performing para-educator functions, and assisting in other duties and functions as needed. Assist and transport students with special needs to ensure safe, efficient, courteous, and customer-service oriented transportation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The subsequent duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out. They do not encompass a comprehensive inventory of the obligations and responsibilities fulfilled in this role. The approximation of frequencies and time allocation percentages are flexible and subject to the requirements of the organization.

  • 1. Safely transport students using a district vehicle along specified routes. Report delays or accidents. Frequency: Daily, Percentage of Time: 40%
  • 2. Load and unload students at various stops and destinations. Provide emotional, behavioral, and physical support for students with special needs. Frequency: Daily, Percentage of Time: 15%
  • 3. Complete pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure safe operations of the vehicle by visually and tactically inspecting all components of the vehicle’s interior and exterior according to the Colorado Department of Education Standards. Frequency: Daily, Percentage of Time: 5%
  • 4. Provide exceptional customer-service to students, parents/guardians, and staff. Frequency: Daily, Percentage of Time: 5%
  • 5. Carry out student discipline activities before, during, and after assigned routes, if necessary. Frequency: Daily, Percentage of Time: 5%
  • 6. Complete Medicaid paperwork for reimbursement purposes. Frequency: Daily, Percentage of Time: 5%
  • 7. Communicate information and procedures to students, district personnel, and/or others in the event of an emergency situation. Frequency: Daily, Percentage of Time: 5%
  • 8. Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of district vehicles. Frequency: Daily, Percentage of Time: 5%
  • 9. Perform evacuation drills as required by the Colorado Department of Education and Transportation Department procedures. Frequency: Biannually, Percentage of Time: 5%
  • 10. Participate in training activities required by the Transportation Department as required. Frequency: Annually, Percentage of Time: 5%

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. It is essential that certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, and trainings are fulfilled, valid, and not expired.

  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
  • High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma
  • No professional work experience required
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license
  • CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Upon hire, successful completion of the District Transportation Small Vehicle Training Program

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
