Job Responsibilities

1. Drive and maintain a transit route and schedule; transport passengers; assist passengers in loading/unloading, including wheelchair passengers.
2. Greet passengers, answer questions, provide transit information, and refer inquiries/complaints to appropriate staff.
3. Handle transit revenues, prepare reports, and daily manifests.
4. Operate radios, report incidents, and assist in accident investigations.
5. Inspect and maintain assigned vehicle, perform preventative maintenance, and record mileage.
6. Enforce safety regulations and report violations.
7. Maintain communication with dispatch regarding route conditions.

Qualifications

Combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities is acceptable. Typical qualifications include:

• Experience: Six months of driving experience with an acceptable driving record.
• Training: Completion of twelfth grade or equivalent.

Licensing & Certifications

• Required: Current DOT Medical Card within 30 days of employment; valid driver's license; ability to maintain insurability.
• Preferred: First Aid and CPR certifications.

Additional Information

The selection process, lasting approximately 4-6 weeks, includes a panel interview, pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, background check, and driving history review.
