Job summary

The Building Center, Inc. is seeking a Non-CDL Driver for a full-time position in Greensboro, NC. You will deliver orders to customers, ensuring accuracy and on-time service while upholding DOT safety standards and company policies.

You will load/unload, inspect the vehicle, and maintain required records. Excellent communication with dispatch and customers is essential; HS diploma or GED preferred. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
• Ability to communicate information to dispatch and customers.
• Ability to follow simple instructions with minimal variables.
• Able to read and understand simple memos and instructions.
• Able to write simple correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare truck for operation and verify shipping papers.
• Inspect tires, lights, brakes, and fluids for safe operation.
• Deliver orders via optimal routes and meet timeframes.
• Maintain communication with dispatch during deliveries.
• Document delivery receipts and report discrepancies.
• Improve customer satisfaction by handling feedback per policy.
• Inform customers of new products and services.
• Maintain truck maintenance records and safety documents.
• Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment as required.
• Maintain a safe driving record and comply with policies.

Job Title: Non-CDL Driver

Reports to: Operations Manager

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Summary: Delivers complete, accurate, and on-time deliveries to the company’s customers. Represents the company in a highly professional, safe, and cost-effective manner that complies with DOT and other applicable regulations.

Job Duties:

• Prepares truck for operation by assisting in and overseeing the loading of truck and securing of items and by verifying the accuracy of shipping papers
• Inspects truck tires, lights, brakes, fluids, etc., to ensure safe and cost-effective performance, with preventive maintenance in mind
• Delivers orders via the most effective route to ensure complete orders are delivered according to established timeframes and customers’ needs
• Maintains communication with company during deliveries to ensure any updated instructions are received
• Documents delivery, accuracy, and receipt of orders by the customer according to company directives and reports any discrepancies to company
• Increases customer satisfaction by collecting information and feedback on service and resolving complaints per company policy; communicates information back to company
• Informs customers of new products and services that can increase customer satisfaction and sales
• Maintains and monitors truck maintenance and driving record requirements; maintains required documents for safety, security, and quality processes
• Updates job knowledge
• Safely operates forklifts and other warehouse equipment, as required
• Maintains a safe driving record free of violations
• Performs occasional warehouse and counter duties
• Maintains proficiency in computerized systems and other technologies, as required
• Follows company policies and procedures
• Performs other duties, as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Working knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
• Ability to effectively communicate information to dispatch and customers
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions
• Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written or oral instructions
