Job summary

VCU Health System seeks an Emergency Medicine attending physician (Nocturnist) to join a dynamic academic team. The role emphasizes direct ED patient care, supervision of trainees, teaching medical students and residents, and involvement in research initiatives.

The position supports a robust residency program, with opportunities to contribute to ACLS, PALS, and ATLS training. Fully onsite at a Level 1 Trauma Center with a strong commitment to education and patient care.

Qualifications

• Board Certification/Eligibility in Emergency Medicine.
• Active Virginia Medical license or ability to obtain.
• Completion of an Emergency Medicine Residency within 3 years (or 1500 hours in last 3 years if beyond 3 years).
• Demonstrated professionalism and civility with diverse colleagues and learners.

Responsibilities

• Clinical: provide direct patient care in the ED, supervise trainees, document encounters, and comply with billing/coding.
• Teaching: deliver core curriculum lectures and bedside teaching to students and residents; participate in ACLS/PALS/ATLS.
• Research: identify areas of interest and engage in departmental projects.
• Administrative: attend meetings, support QA/UR activities, and participate in committees as assigned.
