Job summary

VCU Health System is seeking an enthusiastic Emergency Medicine faculty member to join the Department of Emergency Medicine at the VCU Medical Center. The role focuses on delivering high-quality patient care, educating medical students, interns, and residents, and engaging in research initiatives within a Level 1 Trauma Center.

The rank can be Assistant, Associate, or full Professor, commensurate with experience, with opportunities for leadership and collaboration across residency programs.

Qualifications

• Board Certified/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine.
• Active Virginia Medical license or ability to obtain.
• Completion of an Emergency Medicine Residency within 3 years (if beyond 3 years, must have completed 1500 hours of clinical activity in the past 3 years).

Responsibilities

• Clinical – Provide direct patient care in the ED supervising all trainees and non-physician providers; document encounters and adhere to policies; fill uncovered shifts as needed.
• Teaching – Lead core curriculum lectures for medical students, interns and residents; participate in ACLS, PALS and ATLS courses.
• Research – Identify areas of interest and participate in departmental research projects.
• Administrative – Attend meetings, participate in quality improvement activities, and represent the department as needed.

Education

Board Certified/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine

Active Virginia Medical license or ability to obtain

Completion of an Emergency Medicine Residency within 3 years (and related 1500 hours if beyond 3 years)
