Job summary

The University of Minnesota seeks an Assistant NMR Manager to support operations and maintenance of a multi-user core facility. The role involves training a diverse user base, overseeing eight primary spectrometers and six satellites, and coordinating satellite work across four buildings on campus.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry or Biochemistry plus at least 2 years relevant experience and a background in NMR spectroscopy, or a combination of education and relevant experience to equal at least 6 years.
• MS and/or PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage facility operations for eight primary and six satellite spectrometers, including routine maintenance and troubleshooting (50% effort).
• Perform routine maintenance at satellite locations to ensure uptime and support departmental instruments.
• Provide orientation and training for new students/postdocs on Bruker and Agilent/Varian consoles, and assist with data processing and experimental design.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as documentation, safety audits, and inventory management (5% effort).
